MOD ENTRIES CLOSING DATE – 30TH AUGUST 2011
STANDARD RULES
 
1.           Competitors in ALL sections of the syllabus must enter their names with the Provincial Mod Secretary NOT later than the 30th of June 2010.
 
2.           All spoken and sung matter must be in Gaelic.
 
3.           A competitor must not sing the same song in more than one competition.
 
4.           Junior Solos singers’ own choices are limited to 20 lines.
 
5.           Unless otherwise stated, no reading or recitation shall exceed 5 minutes in delivery.
 
6.           Competitors in vocal music competitions must sing without musical accompaniment except Folk Groups.
 
7.           Prescribed songs may be performed and if necessary, be sung higher or lower than the key in which they are set. All prescribed pieces listed are from the Royal National Mod 2009 Official Booklets, available at 109 Church St, Inverness, IV1 1EY.
 
8.           Competitors intending to enter the National Mod must use the appropriate prescribed pieces which can be obtained from the Mod Secretary.
 
9.           Junior choirs must consist of at least 8 and not more than 26 voices.
 
10.       Competitors in the Junior Section must be within the prescribed age group on the first day of October of the year in which the Mod is held.
 
11.       Conductors may NOT sing with their choirs.
 
12.       Entry to both Chanter and Bagpipe competitions by the same competitor will NOT be accepted.
 
13.       In all cases the decision of the Adjudicators shall be final.
 
14.       All ‘Own Choice’ competitors MUST send 2 COPIES of the music and words with a translation to the Mod Secretary by 30th June 2010.
 
15.       Failure to supply all information and correct copies of music and words may lead to disqualification from the competition.

 

16.           Permission must be obtained prior to photocopying of any sheet music that is copyright.
 
17.           First prize winners from Provincial Mods can enter the Royal National Mod competitions after the closing date. The Provincial Mod Secretary is responsible for entering the winner within ONE WEEK of the Provincial Mod. This only applies if there are sufficient numbers entered into the competition in question.
 
18.           Protests against the eligibility of a competitor must be made to the Local Mod Secretary before the judgements are announced (or where possible, before the competitions has been entered upon) and must be in writing and must contain a clear statement of the condition infringed and/or the alleged disqualification. Protests can only be entered by those interested as competitors in the particular competition in connection with which the protest is raised.
 
19.           No person whose principal vocation is concerned with the subject matter of any competition will be allowed to take part in that competition.
 
20.           Art and literature exhibits ONLY may be handed in to Poolewe Village Hall on the afternoon before the Provincial Mod. Art entries are restricted to 1 entry per competitor.
 
21.           Any competitor unsure of which competition to enter should contact the Secretary for guidance.
 
22.           Prizes, certificates and badges will be presented after each competition.
 
23.           First prize winners in appropriate competitions will be expected to appear at the relevant concert/Ceilidh on the evening of the competition. Please confirm attendance with the Provincial Mod Secretary.
 
24.           Trophies must be returned inscribed and in a clean condition to the Provincial Mod Secretary by the 30th June 2010.
 
25.       Video, audio recording, use of cameras and mobile phones are prohibited during competitions.
 
26.       The Committee will not accept responsibility for any loss or damage to entries or personal property.
