I have just received a mailing from John Lane which follows:-
Hello again, trust you are in good nick.
I write seeking assistance with my memory. I have a vague recollection of borrowing a bike and with others, cycling from Halton to London on the Sunday before the Coronation. I think the cycles were probably those ex WD Commando things we bought by the crate from Exchange and Mart, or similar. I still have the camera I would have carried and the 8 photos taken, only 8 because that was all you could do on a 120 film and I expect only one film could have been afforded. The negs have disappeared in the interval but I have managed a reasonable job with a scanner and simple software. The main problem is I have no idea who I went with. As a plumber I was in block 5 room 5 , and so expect it was more likely somebody in that area. I gather that you are settling into whatever you have volunteered for but if you can think of any way of making my plight known to any survivors I should be most grateful.
A misspent youth and a period off sick in 1985 has left a damaged memory file with unexpected gaps, advancing years has not helped either. Would you believe it, 45 miles each way, I'm am not sure that I do.

Thanks for your mail John. I'm sure there are a few of us who would like to have a few events refreshed. Lets hope someone remembers(now I know where my bloody bike went!). I also made a trip to London and I too cant remember who it was with but I remember hitching it getting near to Marble Arch and finding large gates closed,we got back just in time to see it all on the big screen in the tank.
On the journey down we were convinced by the driver he knew a shorter route,you've guessed it!
