Surreal
'The reference for these paintings usually comes from organic forms, like shells or plants. I am attracted to the apparent simplicity of naturally formed objects which have an interesting linea form. The colour interpretations are always my own.
The use of opposite colours is an important content of most of these paintings together with the contrast of bright against dull colours. A further contrast may be seen in the attempt to create a sense of volume against a background of space or emptiness through real style and detail in the foreground contrasting with complete lack of detail in the background. The sense of light is accentuated by the inclusion of strong shadows which also form essential parts of most compositions.
I hope you like my use of apparently mundane, naturally formed objects as subjects for these paintings as much as I do. I find painting in oils and acrylics gives me most scope for expression for these dreamlike creations.'
