Feast of St Columba 9 June2017
Parishioners at St Columba's in Chesham celebrated a special mass to mark the feast day of St Columba, on June 9th. St Columba founded the famous abbey on the beautiful island of Iona off the west coast of Scotland and brought Christianity to the Scots in the 6th century.
We had a special visit from a former Parish Priest, Fr Chris Whitehouse, now Parish Priest of Sacred Heart at Stopsley in Luton. Fr Chris left St Columba's in 2002, and is fondly remembered. Many parishioners were very pleased to welcome him back. In the homily Fr Chris talked about the life of St Columba's and related his missionary work to our modern day mission.
Fr Alessandro Reno, the Priest in Charge of St Columba's, was on hand to concelebrate the mass, and he also organised a parish fun day after the following Sunday mass for all the parishioners to get together and enjoy the feast day.
