A message from Alchemy Film & Arts, the home of the UK’s festival of experimental film and artists’ moving image in Hawick, Scottish Borders, known for the warmth, solidarity, humour and inclusivity with which it is delivered. This year’s edition takes place 2 – 5 May and offers an international programme of 75 films across four days of cinema screenings, moving-image exhibitions, live performances and our popular Festival Ceilidh. Check out the full programme here.
As we gear up to welcome 100 filmmakers to Hawick, many of whom will be visiting Scotland and the UK for the first time, I’m excited to say that we're inviting sign-ups, queries and expressions of interest in volunteering for the biggest festival in the UK of its kind.
At Alchemy, we value the friendly and uniquely intimate atmosphere in which our flagship event unfolds. A large part of this atmosphere is down to our volunteer community, which grows each year to accommodate new names and faces within the ever-growing fold of folk who regularly contribute their time and energy into making our event the internationally renowned showcase of innovative film that it is.
I have attached a poster, and you can see more information about volunteering on our website, and sign up to volunteer here.
Volunteers get access to free cinema screenings, a lunch while on shift, and we are also providing a free morning shuttle bus from Galashiels Transport Interchange and bursaries for return travel. This shuttle bus is timed to meet trains travelling in from Edinburgh, to make it easier for volunteers from further afield to join us.
Please do feel free to share this around your networks, and if you have any questions, just let me know – you can also reach me in the office on 01450 367 352.
Warmest,
Milo
