Scatwell is a small friendly community at the heart of the Strathconon glen, 25 miles north-west of  Inverness.

Scatwell Community Association is a registered charity, incorporated in Scotland (SCIO no. SC045102).

Our Association fosters community spirit based on an ethos of mutual support. To strengthen this intent, we have renovated the disused sawmill from Little Scatwell Estate to create a community space where people from within and outwith Scatwell can come together for social events, education and learning, parent and children's groups, talks, exhibitions and displays, and informal get-togethers.

With strong local support for a Community Hall on the site of the Old Sawmill, we signed a lease agreement with the owner, Lord Aylesford in 2013.

In August 2014, we were awarded a grant from Fairburn Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund to clear and prepare the site at the Old Sawmill. In September that year, the Association was granted charitable status as a Scottish Charitable Incoprorated Organisation (SCIO), clearing the way for formal applications for grants and donations from major bodies.

Over the following four years, the Association organised events and raised funds to bring these aspirations to life.

On Saturday, 14 April 2018, The Old Sawmill was officially opened by Mrs Janet Bowen, Lord Lieutenant of Ross and Cromarty. A series of talks and social events has been organised for Scatwell residents, neighbours from far and wide, and visitors to the area.

The entire project was driven by the community for the community, creating a hub that welcomes everyone. We continue to raise funds for ongoing operation and maintenance. Above all, we require participation to make our hall live and work for all of us.  Please join us at an event, or help organise one. We'd love to see you there.
