Club News w/ending 18th June

On Sunday our boys went to Motherwell to play Dalzell in the 3rd round of the Millennium singles competition.  It was a very closely fought match but the home side just managed to hold out for a narrow 3-2 win.

On Monday the Seniors were at home against the league leaders Glengowan and they too had a very tight match with the result in the balance until the last bowl of the game but in the end both teams had to settle for a share of the points. At the half-way stage in the competition we lie in fourth place but we still have hopes of a successful conclusion to the campaign.

On Tuesday evening the Div. 1 team were at home to league leaders Victoria 1 and we had a comfortable victory, lifting the maximum points to bring them into contention for a league victory with only one game laft. The Div. 2 team were at Coatbridge for their match and after quite a close game they too managed to return with 7 points. This result puts our boys at the top of the table with three more games to play. NOTE: because of the LBA holding their semi-finals next Tuesday there have been changes to the leagues programme. Our Div. 1 team will now play on Monday next week and the Div. 2 team have re-arranged their game to take place on Wednesday.

Special Note: - the membership were delighted to learn today that Jim Simpson has been discharged from hospital after his short but very eventful stay following his operation. We wish you well Jim and get better soon.
