Parish Councillors

The Berrow Parish Councillors are:

Mrs. Ruth Coates (Chair)

Ruth grew up in Tewkesbury and moved to Berrow some 30 years ago.
She worked in the admin side of Estate Agency/Valuers businesses in her early
working life before moving into the Care sector where she worked as an
Administrator/Business Support Manager for a local organisation supporting people
with learning disabilities. She held this position for some 17 years.
She joined the Parish Council back in 2011, becoming the Chair in 2017, upon the
sad death of the previous Chair, who had been in post for some 16 years. Prior to
that she was Vice Chair for a few years.
She is very involved with the Berrow church benefice which includes the two local
churches of Berrow and Pendock and is on the pcc for this parish. She also enjoys
singing and music and is in a couple of local singing groups.
Her other interests are the countryside, walking, wildlife and holidaying in her VW
camper van. She has a pet cat and enjoys keeping chickens.

Mrs. Caroline Samsonoff

Caroline lived at the family farm in the neighbouring parish of Birtsmorton when she was younger, and qualified as a Nurse. She was also an Officer in the Army Reserves and proudly held the Queen’s commission, employed as a Military Midwife in hospitals at home and abroad. She moved to Berrow in 2020 with her Husband and children and has been involved with the Parish Council since. Caroline is keen on encouraging wildlife into their garden and supporting local businesses.. Caroline is also a keen fundraiser for the NSPCC and has completed the London Marathon twice on their behalf.

 Dr Philip Thompson.

Phil moved to Berrow in 2017 and since then has been enjoying becoming part of the village community. He joined the Parish Council in late 2021. Phil keeps an eye on the flower bed in St Faith’s Churchyard and when he isn’t pottering in his own garden, you’ll find him rounding up his chickens. Phil is a local GP and has been heavily involved in rolling out COVID vaccinations in Malvern. Phil is originally from Lancashire and moved to Worcestershire after studying at Birmingham University and working at Worcestershire Royal Hospital as a junior doctor. In his spare time, he enjoys time with friends, eating out, music, gardening and travelling.
