Gairloch Challenge Regatta 2015

Dinghy Regatta, 5th & 6th September 2015.

Wow, what a weekend, great weather, enough wind to make it exciting and most of all, fabulous support from local Gairloch area sailors and visiting sailors from Invergordon, Plockton, Loch Carron and Loch Morlich. Over the weekend, there were a total of 29 boats and 38 sailors.
Volunteers provided lots of soups, rolls and baking to sustain the sailors during the day.
Rescue cover came from the coastguard volunteers and local power boat drivers, but very minimum help was needed.
The Committee Boats were loaned by Peter McIntyre and on Sunday by Ewan McLellan.

The overall winners, based on a Handicap system were:-

The Junior Winner was Callum Reid from Plockton in a Topper.
Junior second was Iain Nelson, Gairloch, in a Pico.

The Senior Winners were Dave Allan and Finlay Clark in the Albacore.
Second was Ewan McLellan in a RS Feva with each of their 3 girls taking a turn.

The last race was round Isle Horrisdale and was won, on handicap by Ewan McLellan & Eriskay from Badachro in the Feva.
Special mention goes to Callum Reid from Plockton, who was second on handicap on his Topper in the Island Race.

The racing was very exciting and there are lots of photos on the Gairloch Boat Club  Facebook page.

Huge thanks to everyone who helped and took part.
