The Race Council Cymru team will be holding events around the country during 2016 to engage people with our project's core aims of challenging racism, celebrating the contributions and achievements of Black people, and identifying the shared history of Wales and Black people across the world.

1. Diversity and Black History workshops - July 2016. A two-day event aimed at promoting diversity with Citizens Advice and celebrating the achievement of the African Institute Research Group.

2. Hate Crime and Black History Symposium - 12 October 2016. An event aimed at understanding the historical roots of racism and of developing strategies to tackle it. 

3. Celebrating Black History in Wrexham - 15 October 2016. An event celebrating the 2,000-strong Portuguese-speaking Black community of Wrexham with CLPW. 

4. Black History at Heritage Sites - 11 November 2016. A day exploring how to incorporate Black history into existing interpretation at heritage sites in Wales.

5. The Future for Black History in Wales - 5 and 12 November 2016. Two events - one each in north and in south Wales - which brought together representatives of organisations across Wales to discuss the priorities for telling Black history in Wales.
