RNLI Fundraiser Otter Ferry
07 July 2012

As forecast Glendreich made its public debut at this event on the shores of Loch Fyne. We had a great learning experience as the day progressed (and got wetter).   On the positive side we found that it was perfectly possible to run radio controlled steam on the layout despite the tight curves. Dave W's Merlin Minstrel put in a steady performance until the bumps on the Mamod points eventually dislodged the battery box!

Bob Y's Lady Anne also rose to the occasion. If the weather had been a bit better I am sure that Ramrod would have got a shot too. Gaps between steamers were occupied by Tom's Tin Turtle. Another lesson learned was that an 8' square gazebo does not totally protect an 8' x 6' layout when the rain gets heavy. A few of us enjoyed lunch in the "Oystercatcher" although legendary high-roller Fraser R was heard expressing the view that at least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask while robbing you.

Bob later told us that the day made over £460 for the RNLI.
