SOUTH BEACH

The South Beach branch closed at the end of 2012. The group now operates a smaller portable layout - Glendreich.

Our portable layout allows us to take Live Steam to events around the country. This photo shows us all set up and ready at the Perth Model Raillway Show in June 2011. (Photo - Dave W)perth set up

The layout measures 22 ft x 18 ft and consists of a double tracked main circuit, with two sets of sidings and a locomotive yard. It's quite big if you are planning to fit it into a marquee. (Photo by Mike B)

Sometimes it doesn't rain and we can enjoy the scenery. (Photo by Mike B)

The layout features a separate loco steam up area with a turntable. This shot shows some members locos on shed awaiting their turn to steam up. (Photo by Dave W)

A lot of work has been done (mainly by Ian W) to improve the scenic appeal of South Beach over the last 12 months and there are now a number of attractive scenic features such as the Cottage and Garden complete with chicken run. (Photo by Dave W)
