Young Researchers' and Mentors' posters

The Young Researchers presented the science knowledge they had created in the form of an academic poster. The PhD students communicated, in the form of an academic poster, the educational knowledge they had created. The posters were displayed at the conference 6th Oct 2018 and during the interval they talked to members of the 'audience' about their work.

Reflections

Writing your reflections (200-500 words) on what you have learned by participating in the BRLSI Young Researchers programme has two purposes: first to enable you to learn as much as you can from the experience, and second, to enable others to learn from you. It may help other young people to decide whether to take part in such an opportunity or help adults to decide whether to create such an opportunity for young people in their own locality. Research is about making your knowledge public and one way is through the web, like on this site.

If you are not sure where to start or what to write, you could use these questions. You don’t have to answer them all and you may find questions of your own come to mind once you start writing.

·    What have I learnt about myself? What is important to me, what I love doing, my passions?

·    What have I learned I am good at and got better at?

·    How have I affected others?

·    What have I learned that I value?

·    What have I learned that could be of value to others?

·    How have I contributed to and benefited from my own learning and the learning of others?

·    What do I want to explore now?

If you are still stuck you could try writing a few words under these as headings:

·    What did I expect from my involvement in the programme?

·    What did I experience as a learner?

·    What did I find difficult?

·    What excited me and 'fired me up'?

·    What do I want to do with my research?

·    What would I like to do in the next academic year?

Each person has a different way of approaching this. No right, no wrong - just whatever is right for you. I have found the best advice is to write for you in the first instance and see what emerges. You don't have to send anything you are not happy to share.
