Grey pink flesh, pale blue veins,

fresh dead meat on a butchers' slab.

No best side, no sycophant

from sinewy muscle to heavy flab.

 

The royal palace called on you

to paint a portrait of the queen.

You painted wrinkles, warts and all,

they cried "but she should look serene!"

 

I went to see your work one day

though I hate to be a boaster.

It really took my breath away,

and so I bought a poster.
