Lilian has the answer and public delights at Trinley Brae Allotments
20 September 2010

Local legend Lilian submitted the correct answer to our 'guess the name of the scarecrow' game at our first open weekend.

On being informed of this important news, she was heard to reply;

"Ooh"

Lilian received a bag of fresh produce from our own allotments and was last seen heading home to enjoy a leek or two.

Well done Lillian!

The excitement began earlier when Roger, our longest resident plotter, received a commendation for the best floral display.  Roger said:

"I just put them in a bucket"

Well, that just shows innate style and panache, doesn't it?

What a weekend it was with rave reviews from our guests - better than we'd ever dare imagine possible, especially for our first attempt.

We were amazed at the cross-section of the public interest with the widest imaginable age range, giving us hope for the future in the youngsters and perspective from former plot holders enjoying a return visit.

A surprising number of people traveled quite some distance to visit us - being that we're a little off the beaten track and local support and interest was truly inspiring.

We've made lots of new friends and have lots of new ideas but we are content that our current ideas and ambitions have been realised with undeniable success.

We have seen plot holders exhibit previously unknown talents and enjoyed building stronger links within the local community; most notably the Banner Residents' Association and the ever-wonderful Glasgow Wood Recycling, based on South Street, Glasgow.

An invitation is extended to all visitors to remain in touch as your support has been truly valued and we are deeply grateful for your congratulations and wishes of good luck.

More detailed reports will follow but for now, well done and thank you all.
