American school forced to axe cross-dressing fashion show.
A school in New Jersey has come under fire after instructing male students as young as eight-years-old to arrive at school in female clothes for a cross-dressing fashion show.
The school sent home letters to parents asking that they dress their sons up in outfits including cheerleading uniforms and poodle skirts. The move was designed to mark Women's History Month, but caused such outrage that the fashion show was eventually cancelled.
One mother, claimed that her son cried "Mommy, please don't make me do this" when given the letter. The fashion show was also due to be videotaped.
The pack, which was sent to parents, informed them that all students must participate. However, it did say that the boys didn't have to wear a dress or skirt, as "there are many time periods where women wore jeans, pants and trousers"
Suggestions were made for fashion moments from the 1950, 1960s and 1970s, and the children were expected to have expressed a certain time period through their outfit.
To replace the fashion show, children have now been asked to draw a picture of a person from that era. The headteacher has also apologised to parents for "any confusion or frustration" they may have experienced.
Why on earth would we need young boys to be dressed in female clothing to celebrate us? More likely this was a sick attempt to mock us.
