Things to Do in Tobermory
- Walks: Aros Park, Lighthouse Path, Ardmore Forest, along the track beside us to the croft lands
- Mull Museum – small but very interesting
- Mull Aquarium - Europe's only catch and release aquarium – in carpark
- Lots of shops on Main Street
- Sit out on the seawall benches with ice cream or fish and chips!
- Try and spot an otter or two.
- Photograph the famous Tobermory Cat
- Buy books about TC from Tackle & Books
- Tackle & Books has local guides, maps and lots of very interesting books, art materials, camera stuff, etc – and they sell fishing permits and tackle!
- Lifeboat shop – lots of good quality gifts
- Distillery – guided tours
- Turus Mara minibus leaves from car park for Staffa and Lunga sea trips (book in advance)
- Hire an electric bike
- Balamory trail – map from Cal-Mac office
- Golf – pay at Brown's shop
- Tennis court – pay at Council Offices
- An Tobar arts centre – just down the road - exhibitions & events
- Angus Stewart's Gallery – just down the road
- Mull Theatre – on the main road out of Tobermory
- Baliscate standing stones and ancient chapel as excavated by Time Team and local archaeologists
- HWDT shop with cetacean displays and gifts
- Sit and watch the boats in the harbour - it can get quite busy!
- Walk to Baliscate to buy fishy treats from Tobermory Fish Co (where we get our smoked haddock!)
- See if there's an event in Aros Hall
- Be pampered at Catriona's on the Main Street
- Ask Tim if he's available to take you sketching – hourly rates apply!
Things to do on Mull
- Duart Castle – dungeons, reconstructions, tearoom
- Swim, steam and bake in the spa at Isle of Mull Hotel
- Go whale/shark/sea eagle watching with local operators
- Go to Staffa (Fingal's Cave) and Lunga (puffins) with Turus Mara
- Go sea fishing from land or boat – Tackle & Books take boat bookings
- Old Byre Heritage Centre, tea room & shop, Dervaig
- Kilmore church, Dervaig – interesting inside and out
- Wildlife tour with Discover Mull
- Sea Eagle Viewing Hides, various locations depending on nest sites
- Other hides at Ardmore and Fishnish
- Isle of Ulva – miles of tracks on community-owned island with excellent tearoom - a whole day's excursion.
- Calgary – bay, Art in Nature trail, gallery, tearoom
- Fish lochs & rivers for salmon, sea trout, brown trout – permits and everything you could possibly need from Tackle & Books
- Find one of our lovely beaches and have it all to yourself!
- Take the long trip to Iona – there's more to it than just the abbey and royal burial ground!
- Buy a Brown and Whittaker walking book from Tackle & Books and try one or two.
- Visit Lip na Cloiche Garden
- Take a scenic drive – we can advise on routes
- Hire a bike and take off down a forestry track
- Ride native ponies at Killiechronan
- Walk, cycle or drive to Glengorm Castle Steadings, 4 miles from here – gallery, fair trade coffee, restaurant, highland cattle who love to pose for photos, hebridean sheep, wildlife centre, walks.
- Climb Ben More – Mull's Munro – but only if you are well-equipped and experienced as it's a serious mountain!
- Above all, relax and enjoy the peace and quiet!
