Feeling a bit peckish, we came across The Thistle Stop by chance late one afternoon recently, while driving the "scenic route" up the A82 for a weekend in Inverness.

We were greeted and served by the proprieters Julie and her husband Patrick, who explained they'd only taken over the premises a few weeks ago. On the basis of their warm, friendly welcome and the quality of the food served, I reckon they'll be enjoying a very good patronage before very long.

Thinking we'd just have a coffee and a cake, we ended up having delicious soup, a "sausage bap", coffee AND cake! We were tempted by the very reasonable "All-day" breakfast, but as we were due to eat in our hotel later, we managed to resist this delight. Maybe the next time!

The Thistle Stop is spotlessly clean and has a good Menu of snacks and light meals - as well as that All Day Breakfast. There is also a well stocked shop of local produce, souvenirs, jam and preserves etc. adjoining the eating area.

There is a spacious gravel chipped car park which (for security) is easily seen from the restaraunt, not to mention a lovely view which can also be enjoyed from outside tables, weather permitting. The WC's are easily accessible and also match the cleanliness evident in the rest of the premises.

Overall, a good location, excellent food and a very friendly and efficient service.

We will definitely call in again the next time we are in the area.
