The Skones are becoming increasingly well known along the south coast for paying loud and fast tribute to the finest punk tunes ever to roll out of the radio during the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. Their repertoire reads like a John Peel wish list, and includes well known classics by The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Stiff Little Fingers and The Buzzcocks, along with a good number of specialist tunes by the likes of Dead Kennedys, The Damned and UK Subs, and they even sneak in an unexpected novelty hit from the time about some bloke called Gordon.

Paul, Lee and Charlie got together in 2011 to pay tribute to the music that first inspired them to pick up their instruments. They had previously worked both together and separately in a number of bands covering just about every genre of music. Working as a three piece band allows them freedom to bring the music to life rather than simply try to preserve these great songs in aspic, and there are certainly enough fans around wearing Skones t-shirts to confirm that even after 40 years, punk’s not even close to being dead.
