Collecting Postcards
Postcard collecting is a wonderful hobby that is absorbing and interesting and there are as many reasons why we collect as there are collectors.
I have a real interest,as a Family Researcher,in the names and places the cards are posted to as well as the messages & places on the cards.
As a lover of history,especially social history the cards are a record of their time in many ways and the messages on the back are often very interesting,beside the usual 'having a lovely time,wish you were here'.
Way back when, mail cards could be posted and deliverd on the same day,so you often come across old cards with messages such as 'I will see you at 7pm today' or similar.
The sending of postcards has dropped dramatically due to financial constraints which is a shame.
Keep buying and sending postcards. How about sending some of your old unposted cards to family and friends so that they can circulate once again!
