Looking to the future - ELECTRIC Community MINI BUSES for each area of Neath
Ever since the gas powered trams of the early 1900s, Neath has always been ahead of many towns when it comes to transport.
The latest idea up for consideration is to provide each area of Neath with an electric mini bus. The main areas being: Tonna, Cimla and Bryncoch.
Each community would be responsible for providing retired people as drivers on a voluntary basis, on the known fact that many retired residents would welcome a means of helping neighbours.
Electric mini buses would need little maintenance and help the environment. Indeed, the buses could be made and maintained at the council owned Metal Box works.
This could be the first step to having driverless vehicles, which are now being developed.
It must be remembered that the time is coming when petrol and diesel cars will not be allowed on the roads.
