In 1920, The playing field known as the Cricket Ground was granted permission to add football as an organised sport there. The old cricket club was called Heathlands C.C. which was started sometime in the 1870s and continued to the outbreak of WW1. After the war, the ground was left in Trust to veterans of the Parish for organised sport. St. Sebastians cricket Club was formed and then,also, the former St. Sebastians Football Club was founded. The club ran from 1920 to 1980. Some players were members of both cricket and football clubs.
