R.N.L.I.:

The Lifeboats' link, as with the B.I.S.S. being the sea, is a legacy from those in the family who served in the Royal Navy and others who set sail for distant shores. The volunteers risk life and limb with many shouts from the sea and shores around Britain's coast. It is fitting that members of the public should all pitch in because the future may well find any one of them in a situation, whether out at sea or cut off by the tide along the shore.
