Overdue Update!

Dont think that because I've not been putting on regular news that we have been hibernating!

We have lots going on at SPP right now.  Biggest news is our move to our new home within the park!  We will be moving from the Lady Jane field in April 2015 to our new base just off Bannoch Road.  We are leasing 3 fields in total from the park for the next 15 years!  This is a huge boost for us as it allows us to have all year round grazing for all of our ponies, we are in the process of fundraising to have hard standing put in to create a yard area and carpark in the middle field.  All of this will bring us closer to the goal of providing Equine Assisted Therapy for all within North Ayrshire Council.

To help the Park reach its targets for biodiversity and community involvement we are re-establishing hedging and planting new ones and small stands of trees within our fields.  This will create a better enviroment for the ponies, humans and wildlife.  There will be opportunities for the local community to get involved with the hedge planting on the 14th and 28th of February 2015.  Please contact us through email or Margaret on 07525759853.

Two of our volunteers are also training to become Think Like a Pony Instructors and are off on their first course on the 23rd of February.  Georgia and I are very excited about this and hope once we are fully trained to be able to bring Think Like a Pony to the West of Scotland and to children who would not usually be able to afford or access horse riding lessons.  Think Like A Pony - Empowering Children Through Riding.

Staying with Think Like a Pony a big congratulations to Debbie, Mirren and Iona for passing their first award in their TLAP workbooks.  (I passed mine too!) the girls have worked hard and were over the moon with their certificates and are now working diligently towards their second award.  We also hope to start working on the TLAP badges and mini badges in the spring for all of the Partners who want to take part.
