American Football

Kitted Football requires players to wear protective equipment. This includes helmets, shoulder pads and lower pads. It is a hard hitting game with a stop start nature. It is fast, explosive and tactical. The rules of the game may seem complicated but are not as difficult as most people think. Here are the 5 golden rules of American Football:

Rule 1 :
Each team can have 11 players on the field. At any time, one team will have their best attacking players (offence) on the field and will be trying to score, while the other will have on their best defenders (defence) trying to stop the opposition

Rule 2 :
The offence scores by getting the ball into the End Zone (the area at each end of the field). This is called a Touchdown and is worth 6 points. The scoring team then have the chance to kick the ball through the posts for an Extra Point (worth 1 point). If a team fails to score a Touchdown, they can choose to kick the ball for a Field Goal, which is worth 3 points.

Rule 3 :
The offence is given 4 attempts (Downs) to move the ball 10 yards. If successful they gain another 4 Downs to move the ball another 10 yards. If not, the other teams offense takes over possesion of the ball.

Rule 4 :
The ball is moved down the field by either the Quarterback throwing to a Receiver or a Running Back carrying the ball.

Rule 5 :
A play is complete when the ball carrier scores a Touchdown, is tackled or a pass is unsuccessful and hits the ground.
