Home to oh halfway across the Channel

by Unknown - 20:12 on 03 August 2008
Somehow I managed to fill two panniers, one topbox, a BMW external motorrad attachable bag and my rucksack to overflowing.

So heavy was it,  that I thought I saw the suspension sink down and the side stand groaning under the weight.

I drove down to where my babe works to say my goodbyes, which we did in town cos she wasn't at work!!!

Then I set the mileage clock and off I set.

It was a pretty smooth and event free drive to Portsmouth apart from a wrong turn JUST at the ferry terminal and, oh yes, another one AT the ferry terminal when I went to freight instead of passengers.

I found myself in a short queue with a giant Honda Pan Eurpean and a newish BMW and we mounted the ferry, and plonked our bikes onto the centre stand sideways on to a back of a lorry.

I quite enjoyed the trip apart from one/two things. I located my Reclining chair in my reclining chair room, but set my mattress and bedding down on the floor at the front of the room. Then I enjoyed two well earned pints, some dreadful dj-ing and singing, and had a nice steak supper.

I read for a while and went to bed around 10:30.

I was awoken by a guy complaining that I was keeping everyone awake. What was I to do? "I don't know, you try another room". F***ing cheek!!! OK, so I kept myself awake for an hour or so, then went back to sleep. I was wakened again, this time by a woman moaning about my snoring. Eventually I dozed in a recliner (figuring if I kept more or less upright I'd be less likely to snore.

Bastards!!!
