HOLE IN ONE FOR HOMES NEAR GOLF CLUBS

THE wide, velvet greens and their bunkers are a favourite outlook for many home owners but if you are a golf fan as well they are a bonus. But buying a home near a golf course will cost you a premium according to research by property website Primelocation.com. with houses close to Britain's top courses coming in around £100,000 more expensive than the national average.

"For golf enthusiasts, living next door to one of Britain's top courses may seem well worth the price. However, it is possible to live near a world-class course without breaking the bank - it's just a matter of knowing where to look." says Lawrence Hall of Primelocation.com "For true lovers of the game, it may seem well worth the price."

On the other hand if you know where to look it is possible to live near a world-class course without breaking the bank.

The most expensive area to buy is near to Walton Heath Golf Club in Surrey which hosted the Ryder Cup in 198. Properties close to the course command an average asking price of £541,000 - over three times the national average.

Primelocation.com's report found that prices around the top courses in Scotland were far more affordable, for instance average prices around the home of golf - St Andrews - currently £215,000. Other areas that golf lovers could consider are properties in Ayrshire close to Western Gailes a top golf course that offers the best value for money with average asking prices of just £119,000. The Western Gailes course has hosted such prestigious tournaments as the Scottish Amateur Championship and is also used for qualifying when the Open is played at Turnberry or Royal Troon.
