Over 200 older people from South Cheshire gathered in the Carlsberg
Lounge at the Alexandra Stadium last Tuesday for the sixth annual social
event to celebrate United Nations Older People's Day organised by South
Cheshire Pensioners Association.
Guest of honour was the Mayor of Cheshire East Cllr accompanied by her
Consort. Also present were local MP Laura Smith and Cheshire East
Councillors Dorothy Flude and Olivia Hunter.
Chair Kevan Larkin welcomed everyone and thanked Crewe Alexandra
Football Club for hosting the event again and also our sponsors Bluebird
Care and Tesco Bags of Help.
First to take the stage was thefunkychoir.com who performed to their
usually high standard with a varied repertoire of songs. During the interval
a cream tea was served. This was followed by a lively performance by
professional singer LeeAnn James from Warrington with pop songs from
the 50s and 60s. She soon had the dance floor filling up as people let
their hair down for a lively afternoon including the Mayor.
