ELDER ABUSE - AGAIN AND AGAIN
Following on after our previous story the Health care Commission has published a report showing wide spread neglect of older patients in NHS hospitals. Again nothing is done, no-one is held accountable.
Contrast this with the reaction to the Panorama program on abuse at a care home of younger people. Immediate arrests, the Prime Minister intervenes, outrage in the media.
Meanwhile the inquiry at Mids Staffs rumbles on with all the various watchdogs all pointing the finger at each other but never themselves.
The NPC are holding discussions with Action on Elder Abuse with a view to a joint campaign to demand legislation along the lines of the Childrens Act to protect vulnerable aduts in care.
