Age Concern (now Age UK) have announced the closure of their day care centres across Cheshire. This has come out of the blue without any discussion or consultation with the users or the volunteers who staff the centres.
They say that alternative activities will be provided - trips to coffee mornings, garden centgres and horse riding outings - this for elderly people many of whom have impaierd vision and limited mobility !!!
This demonstrates how large corporate charities are becoming totally removed from the people they are suppposed to help and are more concernd about dancing to the tune of their funders. They have no respect at all for their volunteers.
We are calling for this decision to be reversed and the chief executive to resign.
