PENSION CHANGES - NOT WHAT THEY SEEM

In his Pre-Budget Spending Review the CHancellor appeared to confirm a 2.5% increase in pensions as was promised by Gordon Brown after the "70p" fiasco.

However it now appears after reading the small print that the increase will only apply to BASIC STATE PENSION and other payments like SERPS and Graduated Pension will be frozen.

This again shows the disgraceful attitude of this government to pensioners. 2.5% may appear as inflation beating at first glance but in fact it represents another cut in standard of living for older people because our inflation rate is nearer 5%
