BUS PASS UNDER THREAT
It has been reported in the national press that the Local Governmnet Assocaition had put forward the idea that concessionary bus travel be means tested in order to reduce the cost - i.e. the usage.
We are totally opposed to this move and call upon the governmnet to ensure it is properly funded to remove excessive burden on local councils and hence the council tax, which of course falls most unfairly on the elderly.
We also want to see the introduction of automated recording equipment on buses to authenticate all journeys claimed by the bus companies. (There are allegations that drivers have been seen turning out additional tickets)
