Consevative Council Tax Freeze
The Conservative Party has announced that if they win the next election they will freeze Counci Tax for two years
Whilst this is a welcome start , and they deserve credit for that, they must start now to plan to reform the present system by which local government is funded.
Fuel Poverty is defined as paying over 10% of income for energy, but many of our members pay over 20% in Council Tax - and they DO NOT qualify for benefits
We must use our voting powere to ensure that whichever party is elected they are committed to replacing Council Tax with a system based on ability to pay.
