Crewe Pavements
The Older peoples Voice - an organisation run by the Borough and County Council recently announced that Help The Aged had received £2.5 million to improve the state of pavments in Crewe. We have checked with Help The Aged and they confirm that there is no truth in this story and furthermore they were astonished that anyone could contemplate publishing such a thing.
Help The Aged are campaigning nationally for better maintenance of pavements because of the accidents and injuries experienced by older people. This campaign was triggered by the work done by the Northern Pensioners and the Safer Pavements Action team in highlighting this problem in Falls Awareness week in 2007.
