The weather was excellent again this year for our annual trip to Blackpool for the opening day of the Pensioners Parliament, the annual conference of the National Pensioners Convention.

Once again we are extremely grateful to Wulvern Housing for sponsoring the coach, giving everyone a free day out. It is greatly appreciated.

We arrived in  Blackpool at about 11:00 ,just in time for a cup of tea before lunch and a stroll before joining the NPC march from Adelaide Street West around to the Opera House in the Winter gardens.

Here we  joined about 2000 other delegates from all over the UK.

We were welcomed by the mayor of Blackpool herself a pensioner and President Frank Cooper introduced an impressive panel of speakers

There was also time to browse the array of stalls with information on hand covering many topics of interest to pensioners. Digital switch over is old hat to us but in some parts of the country it is only just happening.

We then departed Blackpool at 16:30 arriving back in Crewe just after 18:00.

This is a 3-day conference and some of our members stayed on for the next two days of talks and debates. Unfortunately Paul berscow the Care Minister who was due to attend for a quesion and answer session on this most vital of subjects cancelled at the last minute -as the Opposition had called an emergency debate in the House of Commons on the subject of - Social care!!!!
