Where the power lies

The power at No.10

'Yes Minister'

The 'Yes Minster' comedy series on TV was said to be Margaret Thatcher's favourite programme when she was Prime Minister - this was because she knew the format was so near the truth.

Now a Daily Mail writer, Guy Adams, looks at No.10 today and says that Sir Jeremy Heywood is at the centre of power.

Fifty-two year old Sir Jeremy Heywood is a Cabinet Secretary (unelected - of course) who earns a salary of £190,000.   He has been in office since the days of Blair and Brown and had their attention when they were not talking to each other.

Now this Cabinet Secretary is one of the senior officials who does NOT want details revealed of the correstpondence between Blair and Bush at the time leading up to the Iraq war.

As Blair's Private Secretary at the time, he was a central member of the inner circle that took Britain to war with Iraq.

Currently James Cameron, is said to trust Sir Jeremy Heywood implicitly often meeting him twice a day.

The report by Guy Adams appeared in the Daily Mail 31.5.14 with the above photo.
