MYRA BEE
SOCIETY OF MASTER SADDLERS QUALIFIED SADDLER
After working for over 16 years in retail management, I decided to retrain as a saddler, in 2007 I attended a 2 year saddlery course at Capel Manor College , where I learnt traditional methods in saddle, Bridle and harness manufacture, during my time at Capel I achieved Society of Master saddlers/City and Guilds skills tests at level 2 in Saddle, Bridle and Harness. And completed a module in lorinery, on completion of the 2 year course I was awarded the Worshipful Company Of Saddlers trophy for excellence in saddlery 2008/2009. Since leaving Capel I have continued my training and have successfully achieved SMS level 3 skills tests in Bridle and saddle. I have also been successful at the Society of Master saddlers national saddlery competitions at Saddlers’ Hall in London, where I have achieved several prizes and premium awards for my saddlery work; I am now trading as a qualified saddler, working from my small but perfectly formed workshop at my home address just outside Inverness.
I have been riding and around horses since I was 10 and have experience with preparing horses for the show ring, and have been successful showing Capel Manor colleges 2 Clydesdale horses. I am currently training to be an instructor for Riding for the disabled, a charity that I have volunteered with on and off since I was a teenager.
