Unique humorous artwork depicting the character, lifestyle and pastimes of Yorkshire folk - Eee by gum!

My work is a bridge between cartoon art and traditional painting, creating funny pictures with scenes of Yorkshire folk enjoying themselves and indulging in what takes there fancy. I like to capture unique ideas from my imagination with original humour gained from personal and past experiences growing up in a male orientated working class background.

Use of bold colour gives a vibrancy to scenes that would have often been actually quite mundane circumsatnces.

Growing up in industrial Sheffield i spent my early years experiencing the dominant male industrialised region with the main industries being steel and coal.

I was then lucky in my my childhood to live at a Working Mens club that my Grandfather ran for 20 years and it was during this time i experienced many excentric and funny characters which gave me my biggest influence in creating my work.

I experienced characters from all walks of life from men calling for a pint after a hard day’s work, eccentric ladies dressed to thrill, alcoholic’s, little old people just intent on gossip and concert halls full of audiences of all types watching the latest entertainment at the time.
