We are looking to expand Pickleball in and around the Lockerbie area.
What is Pickleball?
Pickleball started in America in the 60s where it is very popular. It can be played indoors or out but as you might expect we tend to play indoors in the winter. It is played on a badminton size court with a net about the height of a tennis net. Instead of stringed rackets, bats called 'paddles' are used which are about twice the size of table tennis bats and are made from various materials such as carbon fibre and aluminium. The balls are interesting in that they are perforated like golf practice balls but are about the size of a tennis ball. THe perforations slow the flight down to give you more time to return the ball and makes the game suitable for many more abilities than say tennis.
