Scottish Melodies

"To follow my first two albums - Melodic Leanings and Les's Jazz - I had a hankering to produce something beautiful, and largely well known - from the land of my birth, Scotland.

From this source there have been countless bewitching melodies produced through the ages - not least from the Gaelic speaking areas.

I have included two such Gaelic melodies, but with, I hope, interesting treatment of their harmonies.

For good measure I have thrown in a few of my own tunes - I am Scottish after all.

The cover picture is of Lochmore, a place which both my parents and myself put well to the fore in Scottish beauty spots.

The tune Lochmore was basically written by my father, William M. Cameron, with a 'middle bit' written by myself.

I do hope that you'll enjoy this album of Scottish melodies 'the way I play them'."

Quote from Arbroath Today:

Stand-out tracks include 'Kelvin Grove/Annie Laurie', 'My Ain Folk' and 'Land of Heart's Desire', as well as the 'City Medley', comprising 'The Northern Lights', 'I Belong to Glasgow' and 'The Road and the Miles to Dundee'. Of his own compositions, 'Macbeth's Hillock' is haunting, with a tune that quickly sticks in the subconscious
