Lageorna is a crofthouse which was completely renovated in 1995. We have tried to retain the original cosy feel of the house whilst improving the amenities.
Number of bedrooms:
- 1 Double (downstairs)
- 2 Twin (Upstairs)
- Z bed and cot available.
All bedrooms have hot and cold running water.
There is one downstairs bathroom, with bath, washbasin, WC, and overbath shower.
There is a reasonably sized living room with sofas, extendable dining table to comfortably seat six, coffee table, books, toys and games and stereo .
The Kitchen has a full sized gas cooker, electric fridge, toaster and washing machine. The kitchen is fully equipped for up to eight people, and has a small breakfast area. There is a highchair in the house.
All linen (towels, tea-towels, bed-linen) are provided in the price of accommodation.
POWER, LIGHT & HEAT
We are now connected to Eiggs unique electricity grid, based on renewables generated on the island. It means we no longer have to rely on the vagaries of the generator, and up to 5kw of power will be available to you at all times. We have to be careful not to go over the 5kw, so we won't be indulging in too many appliances until we are sure how well everything will run. We have a meter fitted, and will charge for power at 20p per unit, plus 5% vat - this is cost price.
An efficient wood-burning stove in the living-room provides space and water heating. There are radiators throughout the house, which again run off the wood-burner. All fuel is included in the cost of your accommodation – if you enjoy wielding an axe to chop logs so much the better!
Free WiFi available in the cafe next door.
PROVISIONS
We run a well stocked licensed grocers at the pier which can usually supply all of your needs - let us know if you require groceries on your arrival and we can arrange to have them waiting for you. Fresh organically grown vegetables in season are available from Neil Robertson in Cleadale. Seafood is available from local fishermen, and beautiful local eggs are available from Kathleen at Howlin House.
AVAILABILITY, PRICES & OTHER BITS AND PIECES
We prefer to let the house on a weekly basis, Saturday to Saturday, but can be flexible about it. If this doesn't suit just ask and we will see what we can do. Arrival time is from 3.00 PM onwards, and departure time is 10.00 AM on Saturday morning, although we can hold on to your luggage and transport it to the pier if you are not leaving until the afternoon boat.
Prices vary from £250.00 per week to £500.00 per week depending on time of year.
Well behaved dogs are welcome (not on beds or sofas!) but please remember that the island is basically a free range livestock farm, with over 1000 sheep!
