Name of Player Nominated: Mark Shakespeare

Reason for nomination

I first saw Mark playing a self-build Wersi, I think he was just 15 years old, it was in the lower Plymouth Guildhall. The idea was to build your own wooden cabinet and fill it with Wersi pre-manufactured circuit boards, which you could add to your organ as finances permitted.

I remember many concerts, but the first major show in Plymouth Atheneum was unforgettable! Mark Performed a typical flying start with Tico Tico, after the first couple of notes I became aware that he was playing in the style of Les Dawson!! He stopped and announced that he had dislocated his shoulder, (from carrying in the organ!) The audience were offered a full refund..no one wanted that, and we all agreed to a future date, Mark did not use his flying start anymore.
Mark, as we all know, was a huge talent, and is very much missed but remembered by organ fans everywhere.
