The Sunday Times yesterday had a front page headline :-
UK imams put fatwa on jihadists
Clerics condemn ‘poisonous’ Isis
I failed to understand what this headline even meant. If it had been in the language of Wales, where we live, or English I would have had a chance. So I had to resort to a dictionary to find out what was being said.
Imam - definition - The person who leads prayers in a mosque.
Fatwa - definition - A ruling on a point of Islamic law given by a recognized authority.
Jihadist - definition - A person involved in a jihad; an Islamic militant:
Isis - definition - Egyptian Mythology
A goddess of fertility, wife of Osiris and mother of Horus. Her worship spread to western Asia, Greece, and Rome, where she was identified with various local goddesses.
So from the above information - could anyone tell me what that headline really meant because I am living in Wales - aren't I ?
