Shaun Wright is wrong
Shaun Wright was a Labour councillor for Rotherham until he was elected to the Police and Crimes Commissioner role in 2012.
But he was also the cabinet member responsible for children's services in the town from 2005 to 2010.
Now we've had the almost unbelievable confirmation of the number of children sexually exploited and abused on this man's watch.
But shamelessly he chooses to resign from the Labour Party rather than the lucrative role of PCC for S Yorks for which he gets about £85K a year.
Our public services, institutions, Councils and Parliament are now run by people who do not know the meaning of accountability, responsibility and integrity. Money and power is what it's all about now. Public servants? They disgrace the title.
Here's a little test for Shaun (and all those other parasites).
If you really think you are doing such a good job and you are passionate about improving the lot of the people you are representing: put that £85K (or the generous allowances/salary you get) to better use. Donate it or a substantial part of it to organisations in your patch who do support the common herd, rather than line your own pockets. By all means cover your expenses plus a reasonable return for your labours. But please - stop taking the p*ss!
