Scrapbooking History

The idea of traditional scrapbooking is to preserve personal and family history using photo's, papers and embilshments such as ribbons, stickers, stencils and so on and of course an album. It was messy, time consuming..but a very addictive hobby.

Then along came computers, scanners and with the use of graphic programmes such as Paintshop Pro, Photoshop etc, digital scrapbook making was born! It's so much easier, definitely less messy and much quicker. Many people make their layouts on their computer and then print it out to place in an album, but many use websites that allow you to store your layouts online too, for example photobucket has this feature.

There is an abundance of free material out there and tutorials for the beginner, look through the Google blogs and you'll see what I mean!

Online scrapbooking stores are also becoming very popular, where lots of designers join a site and sell their scrapbooking materials.

How I got hooked was, a friend of mine made me a sigtag, to use in her forum, and I was blown away by it (I had been making sigtags for years, but never like that!). It was colourful, bright and used numerous amount of emblishments to make that sigtag unique! After digging around I finally realised what she was using to make her sigtags...scrapkits! Another addict was born!
