Ansó, 25 February
by Isabel Isherwood - 22:23 on 28 February 2017
This weekend is ‘real’ Carnaval weekend – the one for Mardi Gras/Shrove Tuesday….. So there are lots of local jamborees going on around the area. Ansó has already done Carnaval, but Hecho, Ansó’s neighbour - and rival - just over the hill, held theirs this Saturday. It was a less theatrical and lower-key affair than the Ansó carnaval, but very good fun. The Batucada was the big event of the day, leading a procession through the streets (everyone in fancy dress), with a few cabezudos for good measure, and ending at the sports hall for a ‘Chocolatada’ which is a very Spanish thing: very thick hot chocolate, almost more like hot chocolate mousse than a drink.
