Ansó, 21 December

We are leaving for Cumbria for Christmas in half an hour, so I’m just adding a couple of quick updates and some photos that will get forgotten if I leave it until we’re back….
I have spent the last couple of months learning some basic pottery skills from Blanca, our local (and wonderful) potter. These are the results so far:
We’ve been doing a lot of music – Jake has recently bought a mandolin and is making great progress, Iona tried and heartily disliked the saxophone, so we’re ditching that in favour of piano next term, and Rowan has started guitar, which is going really well. I’m getting fiddle lessons by skype which works surprisingly well! And I’m playing snare drum (caja/caixa) in the local batucada, a Brazilian samba drumming group…..
We have still had no luck with the genet, but Rowan has befriended a family of local cats.
And we’ve had a few great walks in wonderful weather and glorious scenery…..
We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, and I’ll try to write a bit more frequently in the New Year!
