AUGUST 2025
AUGUST NOTICES
Pluscarden Area Meeting in Pluscarden (30th August): Piers writes: please see, linked here some draft minutes. Due to the limitations on WiFI signal at the village hall we are not going to try and blend this Area Meeting. So, if there are particular matters that interest you and you want to know more, let me know, or look out for the agreed minutes after the weekend.
For those joining us for the weekend, please remember to bring something that is meaningful to you that you could share or talk about on Friday evening, if you are not going to Compline.
Answering Friends questions about transferring to QiS
Michael Hutchinson has written about the request to members of the four Scottish area meetings to join Quakers in Scotland (QiS), and members and attenders to give permission for their data to be transferred from General Meeting for Scotland to QiS. Several Friends have sent queries as to the nature and purpose of this transfer, and how it fits with Quaker membership and process. We hope we have replied helpfully on the queries, but we know there may be others unsure about aspects of all of this. Hence we are arranging a special online meeting on Wednesda, Thursday 27th August at 7pm for any Friend interested in talking through these matters. QiS trustees and members of the Co-ordinating Group will be present to respond and explain.
Membership and data transfer meeting: Aug 27, 2025 07:00 PM

Quakers in Scotland: Make sure you sign up!
Have you had an email from General Meeting asking you to confirm that you wish to join the new Quaker body, Quakers in Scotland (QiS), when GMS is laid down on 21st September? To enable QiS to pick up GMS's current responsibilities and to hold its first general Members meeting on 20th September it must have Members! Please ensure that you sign the statement attached to the email by 8th September. Members need to sign two statements; the membership one stating their wish to become members of Quakers in Scotland, and the data consent one consenting to their data being passed to Quakers in Scotland. Attenders need only to sign the data consent statement. More details will be found here Please tell the GM administrator (scotfriends@gmail.com) if you have not received the email.

Inverness LM Minutes of Meeting for Worship for Business held on 2nd July: Read here
Food bank needs July and August attached. Lorna writes “stocks haven’t been so low in over five years, and we’re beginning to have to buy items to ensure we have enough food to make up food parcels for people referred to us. If folks in your congregation could donate even one item from the list, this would make a massive difference to what we do… If bringing food to Church is difficult for anyone, we have permanent collection points in Tesco Inshes, Tesco Tain, Asda Inverness and Asda Tain, which are emptied on a weekly basis. Some Co-ops across Highland also have a food donation box for us.”
