The Jubilee Shield was presented to Inverness Shinty Club in 1977 by Inverness District County Council to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth , having reigned for 25 years ,

In the early years the competition was a local evening tournament but organiser Murdo MacLean turned it into a National competition which is now generally regarded as one of the best 6 a side competitions
