Thirteen talented S1 and 2 pupils travelled to Grangemouth to represent Highland in the first ever National Giant Heptathlon Final. The event, hosted by scottishathletics, was the culmination of a series of Regional events. After 7 rounds of athletics events and a fantastic relay race which saw the boys team finish in second place, the Highland team comprised of pupils from 5 Ross and Sutherland Secondary schools, took 3rd place.
The Giant Heptathlon, a talent identification programme, is set to develop across the Highland Region over the next year. Introducing pupils to a variety of Athletics events, the main aim of the event is to allow an opportunity to identify potential talented athletes.
